Vaccinations

Vaccinations are essential in protecting your animal from infectious disease and an initial course of vaccines and then annual boosters will protect them from these. Many of these diseases are fatal and are always present in the general animal population.

Dogs

Vaccinate puppies from 8 weeks of age with the second booster at 12 weeks (a 4 week interval is necessary between the  two injections) This injection covers diseases Distemper, Leptospirosis (4 strains), Parvovirus and Infectious Canine Hepatitis (associated canine adenovirus 2). Your dog can also be vaccinated against kennel cough.

Cats

Kittens may be vaccinated from 9 weeks of age with a second vaccination given at 12 weeks (a 3 week interval is necessary between the two injections) The vaccination is used to reduce the clinical signs caused by infection with feline calicivirus (FCV) and feline herpes virus type 1 (FHV) and to prevent the clinical signs, leucopenia and virus excretion caused by infection with feline panleucopenia virus (FPLV). We also recommend vaccinating for Feline Leukaemia Virus.

Rabbits

We recommend vaccination against Viral Haemorrhagic Disease and Myxomatosis.

Microchipping

Microchipping protects your pet should they get lost. A tiny chip is inserted into the skin at the back of the neck, this chip containing a unique code for your pet is stored on a database along with your details and can be accessed 24 hours a day. All vets, rescue centres and dog wardens have scanners that can read this code.  It is imperative that your contact details remain up to date, to ensure that you can always be matched to your pet's code.

We recommend that all animals are microchipped – we even have mini chips to implant into reptiles and birds.

**6th April 2016 saw a requirement by law that all dogs over 8 weeks old must be microchipped.**

The cost for microchipping your dog or cat is £16.00.
