About Us

An accredited small animal and equine practice

Here at Catley Cross, we work as a mixed small animal and equine practice. We pride ourselves on giving each of our patient's the gold standard care, love and compassion they deserve. Our team consists of 45 members of staff.

On the small animal side, we consist of a team of six experienced veterinary surgeons, seven registered veterinary nurses, one veterinary student and two amazing kennel assistants.

On the Equine side the team consists of 4 experienced veterinary surgeons, one qualified veterinary nurse and five extremely experienced animal assistants.

You will be greeted upon arrival by our lovely receptionists having already chatted to a member of our knowledgeable office team when phoning prior to arrival or with any query you may have. Our team takes pride in ensuring your visit to Catley Cross goes as smoothly and stress free as possible. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Laboratory services

At Catley Cross vets we have our own purpose built laboratory which enables us to have results quickly when we need them.

We can analyse:

  • Faecal samples for Giardia testing.
  • Urine analysis
  • Dermatology – Hair plucks, skin scrapings. Ringworm culture.
  • Cytology – samples of fluid
  • Blood samples – comprehensive biochemistry, haematology, thyroid levels, Fibrinogen and SAA. We can also test for pancreatic lipase levels.s can be analysed to determine infection.

Written Prescriptions

Catley Cross Veterinary Clinic would like to make you aware that you may obtain prescriptions from this practice.

You may obtain Prescription Only Medicines, Category V, (POM-V’s) from your veterinary surgeon OR ask for a prescription and obtain these medicines from another veterinary surgeon or pharmacy.

The cost for a written prescription is £21.00. This includes VAT and is for 1 drug only.

For any repeat prescriptions please allow 72 hours before collection as some medications have to be ordered in.

Your veterinary surgeon may prescribe POM-V’s only for animals under their care.

A prescription may not be appropriate if your animal is an inpatient or requires immediate treatment.

You will be informed, on request, of the price of any medicine that may be dispensed for your animal.

The general policy of this practice, is to re-assess an animal requiring repeat prescriptions every 6 to 12 months, but this will vary with individual cases and individual circumstances. The standard charge for a re-examination is £27.50 for small animals and £36 for equines (this does not include the visit fee).
